The good news is that small lifestyle changes can make a big difference in reducing your risk. In this single-session class, you’ll learn strategies for eating healthier, increasing physical activity, reading nutrition labels and tracking your progress. You’ll also learn about the year-long National Diabetes Prevention Program and how it can provide ongoing support and accountability.

A fear of falling can keep you from living your life to the fullest. The good news is that falls can be predictable and preventable. Our eight session class will teach you strategies to reduce falling risks, increase activity and live your life again. You’ll also learn home modifications to make falls less likely and practice exercises to increase strength and balance.

Are you age 55 or older? Join the Colby Walking Program at the Harold Alfond Athletics and Recreation Center on the Colby College campus.

Community members may walk the indoor track during the winter months for easier and safer exercise. 

Pre-registration is not needed. On your first visit, please see a program volunteer to complete the necessary paperwork. Minors and pets are not allowed. Soft-soled shoes are required; no outside shoes, please! The walking program is closed during Colby breaks (11/23 – 11/26, 12/21 – 12/31, 3/22 – 3/25).

Steps to Better Pain Management

Living with chronic pain can affect every part of your life. In this series of one hour sessions, learn how healthy eating, balancing activity and rest, mindfulness and gentle movement can help you better manage your pain and make it easier to enjoy everyday life. Connect with others living with chronic pain, learn new skills and gain accountability to reach weekly goals.

This program offers many of the same self-management topics as the Living Well with Chronic Pain program but in shorter sessions with more independent practice between sessions. This class is open to adults who have chronic pain and their caregivers.

The group participates by Zoom and class materials are sent to your home.
