Colby Walking Program
with Colby Volunteers
Are you age 55 or older? Join the Colby Walking Program at the Harold Alfond Athletics and Recreation Center on the Colby College campus. Community members may walk the indoor track during the winter months for easier and safer exercise. Please see the designated days and hours below. Pre-registration is not needed. On your first visit, please see a program volunteer to complete the necessary paperwork. Minors and pets are not allowed. Soft-soled shoes are required, no outside shoes, please! Walking program is closed during Colby breaks: November 24 - 28, December 23 - January 1, March 23 - March 27
Line Up!

Come learn simple line dances that require no partner, no western boots and no dance experience. You just need a willingness to move and smile! Line dancing is great exercise for the mind and body and can improve joint stability, range of motion and brain health for anyone who joins!
Snowshoe & Yoga
with Julie Kaupin
Warm up your body and spirit with a snowshoe trek through Viles Arboretum, then trade in your snowshoes for a yoga mat to practice a calming yoga sequence. Yoga mats, blankets and snowshoes will be provided, and you’re welcome to bring your own. Please dress in warm layers, wear sturdy snow boots and bring a flashlight or headlamp.
Functional Flow

Functional Flow focuses on movements you use every day like bending to pick up a package or reaching overhead into a cupboard. This class helps you perform these tasks with greater ease, safety and confidence through a flow-style yoga practice designed to improve your balance, mobility and strength. It’s ideal for anyone who can independently get up and down from the floor and practice yoga on a mat.

In this two-session workshop, you’ll have the chance to explore the practice without the commitment of a longer series — perfect for beginners or those curious about Qigong!

American Heart Month: Every Step Counts

Your heart is a muscle that gets stronger with movement. This interactive workshop explores how physical activity supports heart health, including blood pressure management. Learn recommended activity levels, how to start safely and ways to stay motivated. The session includes a short, guided exercise routine you can easily implement at home.
